After having a couple of seasons worth of practice I
felt like I needed to really step up my game. I was
more determined. More focused and ready to tear
down the fucking door on the photography world. I
was still using the same cheap camera but after
saving some money and doing some research I
figured I would invest in a new lens. I swapped out
the cheap 18-55mm lens that my camera came with
for a snazzy Canon 1.4 50mm. It was the best
investment I have ever made. The picture quality
and style that I was still trying to obtain was starting
to form.

My imagination was running wild. I couldn’t keep up.
I would stay up till the early morning hours. Studying
photos shot by the handful of photographers that I
look up to. Dreaming up new shots and storylines
that I wanted to bring to life. The seasons were
changing and nature was unleashing some beautiful
scenery for me to play off of. I knew it was time to
play with my surroundings, study my concepts and
really learn how to relate what I want in my shots
with the model that I’m working with.

Chemistry between you and the model can truly
make or break a shot...
